Rockies place 2B LeMahieu on DL with hamstring injury

CHICAGO (AP) The Colorado Rockies have placed second baseman DJ LeMahieu on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain and activated outfielder Carlos Gonzalez from the DL.

LeMahieu got hurt during Friday night’s 1-0 victory at Miami. He says he is feeling better, but ”it’s just not good enough to be a productive player.”

Pat Valaika got the start at second for Monday night’s series opener against the Chicago Cubs. Ian Desmond replaced LeMahieu in the leadoff spot.

Gonzalez had been out since injuring his right hamstring while making a catch during a loss at Pittsburgh on April 18.
